It’s one of the first decisions you’ll have to make in the lead up to your wedding, and perhaps, one of the most important. Choosing a wedding venue can be stressful, so we thought we put together a list of some of favourite, unique venues for both ceremony and receptions here in Wellington.

1. Aston Norwood

The perfect wedding venue for you if you’ve been dreaming of a beautiful outdoor service under a magical arch! Aston Norwood’s gardens are a maze of 400 cherry blossoms and gorgeous trees, meaning whichever time of year you decide to tie the knot, your day will be bursting with colour. With Wellington’s Remutaka Range as your backdrop, Aston Norwood’s Gatsby Suite can host up to 200 guests indoors and the owners pride themselves on making your wedding

experience as smooth and personal as possible.

2. Old St. Paul Heritage Building

For an atmospheric and unforgettable ceremony, why not choose Old St. Paul’s as your ultimate wedding venue? Not only is it a historic site and a Wellington city landmark, but Old St Pauls is renowned for hosting incredible wedding ceremonies beneath its charming, gothic-style beams. One of our favourite aspects of an Old St Paul’s wedding is the option to have the Old St Paul’s Bellringer Guild ring the church bells for the arrival of the bride. It’s a wonderful and classic way to begin the rest of your lives!

3. Zealandia

If you’re looking for a unique and eco-friendly wedding venue, then look no further. Wellington’s favourite eco-sanctuary is also able to host your wedding on their forest-fringed grounds! Cross the river by boat to the Heritage Lawnfor for your ceremony amongst the tress and engulfed in birdsong. It’s undeniable that Zealandia offers a truly magical experience. Zealandia also

prioritizes composting all waste on site and sourcing organic or sustainable products. Not only that, but your wedding proceeds will go towards their vital conservation work.

4. Makara hall & St. Patrick’s Church

Did you know, St Patrick’s Church is one of the oldest wooden churches remaining on the North Island? This quirky and cute church is 20 minutes outside of Wellington and oozing with character. It sits beside the Makara Hall which is a wedding venue favourite amongst those looking to keep the reception nearby. Hosting up to 100 guests with a BBQ and outdoor seating area, this wedding venue is ideal for a couple that is looking for a relaxed and tranquil vibe.

5. Woodroyd Estate

This tudor-style estate has been newly renovated into a fantastic wedding venue just up the Hutt River from Wellington. Surrounded by incredible waterfalls, monarch butterflies and kingfishers, Woodroyd Estate is a wedding dream! The house sleeps up to 10 people, hosts large outdoor decking and stunning mountain views. It is an excellent venue for those looking to hold an intimate, cozy ceremony and reception.
